We’re not Republicans. We don’t worship personalities (no Reagan gods for us) but we do admire some of them. We’re Democrats who like to disagree and squabble. They describe trying to control us to trying to herd cats. Why would we ever want a pledge like that? What you’re doing is called projection: seeing your own characteristics in others.

I understand not the question context and cannot find supporting data and information on Google Search..Please fill me in with what I can find out there. Reading answers did not fill me in with much context. Pledge of Allegiance is hard for some to explain to me as they have different meanings or too simple meanings in their own thoughts. On Google I found some references to very old essays on the meanings of the Pledge. As simple as it seems there is much depth there to be studies and understood and internalized. Old version before U.S. hated Com’nizm didn’t reference any god, as if U.S. Of A. was all there was to have allegiance to. Interesting. Please direct me to stories about proposed changes to which your question alludes.
